Heiligenstein

The Heiligenstein is a pure expression of a classic riesling site.
Thanks to the diversity in the soil, with it’s ruddy weathered desert
sandstone combined with volcanic copounds, it lends itself as
one of the best riesling sites. The flora and fauna growth between
the wineyards, is otherwise only found in far more southern,
Mediterranean areas.

The riesling vines thrive under the droplet irrigation of the terraces, forming its special spicy characteristics. The hard bedrock gives the grape its unique mineral properties thus producing terroir-specific wines.

The bay-shaped southernly opening forms a special microclimate that promotes the varied fruit flavors typical to the identity of the Riesling. These two factors ensure the best possible conditions for Riesling grapes to ripen with lots of extract and fragrance.
