Hasel

The name for this site is derived from the the hazel bush, which thrives under the same moist conditions as the vines. Seeing as the hazel bush makes up a large part of the landscape in the region, this vineyard has been known by the name ‚Hasel’ for generations. Ist soil consists of Löss that formed in the last Ice Age. Through the high pressure from the glaciers, it meant that rocks such as quartz, limestone, mica and clap particles were pulverisred. The loess soil traps moisture and creates a reservoir ensuring that the soil rarely ever dries out. The ‚Hasel’ is situated on a south sloping middle-high hill , providing the ideal climate for the consistent cultivation the classic Grüner Veltliner from the Kamp Valley.
